Have you ever wondered how ecological and harmless the various body care products that we use on a daily basis are? Today, environmental issues are being talked about and debated increseasingly, and there is no doubt that plastic pollution is one of the topics at the heart of this debate.
When thinking about an environmentally friendly lifestyle, ask yourself – What can I change about my habits? My advice – choose solid cosmetics, such as replacing the classic shampoo in a plastic bottle with a more environmentally friendly alternative – a solid shampoo bar.
Consumption of solid cosmetics is just one of the ways in which we can really reduce the amount of waste we leave behind in our daily lives. These products are much more environmentally friendly because they do not contain synthetic raw materials, they are more concentrated and they are mostly without packaging or just a cardboard box that is small and easy to recycle.
Shampoo bars, more popularly known as solid shampoo, are a light and convenient product for daily hair care, which, unlike shampoo, does not contain a lot of additional water. In addition, it does not take up much space and is ideal not only for everyday use, but also when visiting the gym or going on a trip, because it can easily be taken with you in a closed container.
Judging by the name of the shampoo soap, you might think that this product contains soap. But don’t worry, the similarities to soap are only in visual appearance and use; the content of the product is completely different.
Classic soaps used for hand and skin care are usually alkaline and so not suitable for scalp and hair care. On the other hand a quality solid shampoo has a low or neutral pH level, which reduces frizziness of hair and prevents moisture loss.
Currently, a very wide range of solid shampoos are available in stores, however, not all of them are good for your hair. To check whether the shampoo bar does not contain soap, I recommend that you carefully read the composition of the product.
If shampoo bars are made from a soap base, they will most often be relatively inexpensive and contain chemicals such as sodium hydroxide (Sodium Hydroxide, Lye). You do not want this product! Instead, look for a solid shampoo that contains natural, gentle-washing coconut-derived substances, nourishing oils, and emollient active ingredients such as coconut oil, glycerin, or oat extract.
Vegan Fox shampoos bars contains 99.6% natural ingredients and are free from SLS, SLES, PEG, sulphates, parabens, silicones, soaps, synthetic preservatives, mineral oils, synthetic fragrances and dyes. Our offer is here.
Here comes the age-old saying – What works for one will not work for another, so if you have decided to buy a shampoo bar, it is important to understand what your hair type is. If your hair is dry and brittle, a solid shampoo with nourishing and intensely moisturizing substances will be more suitable. On the other hand, if your hair is oily, it is much better to choose a shampoo that intensively cleanses and gives hair volume and lightness.
Once you’ve found the right shampoo bar for your hair type, it’s time to try it. The use of shampoo bars may differ slightly from the composition of the product – some shampoo bars foam better in the hands, others in the hair, but the principle of use is basically the same.
At first, moisten your hair with water, lather a piece of shampoo in your hands and massage the foam thoroughly into the scalp and hair. The second way to wash your hair with a solid shampoo is to lightly moisten a piece of shampoo by sliding it over the hair roots and foaming your hair by hand along its entire length. Then rinse with water and repeat the wash if necessary. It’s just that simple!
To make the shampoo bar last longer, it is recommended to dry it on natural loofah or in a cotton bag after each use. Instead of loofah, you can also safely use a soap dish with good drainage. It is important not to leave the solid shampoo in the shower, where water splashes on top of it all the time, this will significantly reduce the life of the shampoo bar.
That’s all you need to know about buying and using a shampoo bar. 😉
