Your skin is like a mirror depicting your health. If you’re constantly tired, eating unhealthy food or stressed out – it will all be seen on your skin. I promise that everyone has a chance to improve their skin on their own! Is it simple, difficult or impossible? For some people routine and a change of attitude is not a simple step. But I say that it is simple if you:
- Start eating more veggies and fruits
- Start working out outdoors or just start working out
- Will get a good night sleep
- Take care of your facial skin according to your skin type
Your diet is directly related to how you look and feel. In order to improve your skin you need to have a healthy and balanced diet and it’s recommended to eat less meat and dairy products and to use mainly plant products.
To improve your health and skin significantly, dermatologists advise you to use 10 products on daily basis. You don’t have to eat these products every day, but do include them at least some of them in your diet.
Water is the first most important thing for your health and skin. During night, the body undergoes cleansing processes and in the morning it is necessary to rinse these exchange products out of our bodies, therefore, it is highly recommended to drink 1 glass of water in the morning on an empty stomach. During the day, drinking an appropriate amount of water – 30 ml per kg of body, the body and skin will be sufficiently moisturized.
Seeds – Pumpkin and sunflower seeds are rich in selenium, vitamin E, magnesium and protein. Selenium and protein help get rid of wrinkles, vitamin E moisturizes skin and protects skin from sun damage, and magnesium lowers stress levels. Healthy Omega 3 fatty acids in flaxseed, chia and hemp seeds are ideal for fighting wrinkles and acne.
Dark chocolate (at least 80% cocoa) is rich with antioxidants, fatty acids and flavanols, which will make the skin radiant and help improve skin tone, structure and health by preventing rashes.
Sweet potatoe contains vitamins A and C that are vital for a glowing and healthy skin. Vitamin C promotes the development of collagen, while vitamin A acts as an antioxidant that destroys free radicals and reduces the development of malignant skin tumors.
Tomatoes contain a special antioxidant – lycopene which helps to improve your skin and prevents it from pigmentation.
Red peppers are high in fiber and vitamin B6. One pepper contains more than 100% of the daily dose of vitamin C. It is rich in carotene, which helps prevent wrinkles and increases blood circulation, and with carotenoids, which help fight acne.
Spinach is a storage for vitamins and valuable substances containing vitamins like E, A, and C, iron, magnesium, fiber, antioxidants and a bunch of other valuable elements. When eating spinach, the skin is cleansed internally.
Green tea is a great source of antioxidants with anti-inflammatory properties, as well as unique amino acids that help relax the body and reduce stress.
Celery contains vitamin K, which maintains a healthy circulation, natural sodium, potassium and water, which can protect the skin from dryness, scaling and wrinkles .
Carrots aren’t only good for your sight but they’re also good for your skin, because they are rich with vitamin A which improves your skin, prevents signs of fatigue and protects the skin from UV ray negative impact.
Each of your favourite activities – a walk through the forest, along the beach, to the nearest playground, an easy run, nordic walking, gymnastics, yoga, or a drive with your bike or dancing will give you healthy, rosy cheeks. Turns out that physical activities can improve your skin, because when your blood flow speeds up, your skin gets a lot of oxygen and nutrients, which in turn improves recovery of your skin and improves the colour of your skin. In addition, working out helps minimize the levels of stress hormone cortisol in the body.
Regular working out improves the formation of collagen in skin, so your skin stays firm and elastic as long as possible.
Sweating is one of the best medicines for acne because your pores are cleansing from dead skin and dirt. It is important not to run or work out with a layer of cosmetics on your skin.
While you sleep, your skin has a chance to renew and cleanse. But if you don’t sleep enough your skin will slowly start to become brittle and pale, with drooping eyelids, red and swollen eyes and dark circles under eyes. Going to sleep late or waking up too early not just make your skin less elastic¸ but also speed up aging.
Specialists recommend sleeping on your back or on your side with a slightly lifted head. This is a good sleeping pose to avoid health problems. While sleeping on your stomach, your face is pressed against the pillow and after sleeping a couple of hours in this position, wrinkles can start forming and it can cause swelling around eyes. It is very important to remember that your face is in close contact with the pillowcase, so it is better to change it often so your face doesn’t start to get irritated and dirty.
The most important thing is to moisturize your skin. Regardless of your age and the season, all you need is a facial cream. Your face cream needs to be moisturizing with extra active substances appropriate for your skin type and you need to use it every day in the morning and night. Cold weather, hot weather, sun, heating, air conditioning or wind – all these things promote skin moisture loss.
Moisturizing face cream basically is an emulsion rich with water that supplies your skin with moisturizing and renewable substances. If you have oily or combination skin, choose a light gel-like moisturizer that does not clog pores and helps regulate sebum secretion. Ideal if it contains an ingredient with anti-inflammatory and sedative properties – for example, calendula extract, chamomile extract, juniper extract or tea tree essential oil.
If your skin is dry, you will need a little more than just moisturizing. I recommend using a face cream with a rich texture and nourishing ingredients – for example, shea butter, almond oil, jojoba oil, evening primrose oil, or cocoa butter.
It is important to clean skin before applying cream with cleansing milk, foam or gel, balance the skin’s pH with tonic or flower water, and only then massage cream with light stroking or patching movements. It is recommended to apply face cream on the face, neck and décolleté in an upward direction to promote lifting. Along with the first rays of the sun, you have already prepared for the protection of the skin against UV rays with one of the sun protection creams.
Choose to use more than just cosmetics – we live in a very dynamic time, when the overproduction of various cosmetics forces us to make difficult choices and fortunately we have choices. Everyone has the opportunity to buy cosmetics with ethical and pay forward it’s added value.
